When ground space is at a premium, building upwards offers a way to create more floor space within a limited land boundary. But other limitations come into play as buildings grow ever taller; the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) imposes a height limit to avoid conflict with flight paths, rights of light and the need to avoid wind blight affect shape and design, protected views must be preserved.
This walk will look at the growing range of skyscrapers in the City's Eastern Cluster and consider the boundaries that constrain their development.
