TRANSCENDING BOUNDARIES : THE WAY OF PERFECTION?

Join us at St Stephen Walbrook beneath Christopher Wren’s first dome and at the birthplace of the Samaritans for a panel discussion looking at the study and practice of architecture and the arts now and through history in the context of mental health and wellbeing. How can we achieve a way of perfection in design and wellbeing?

St Stephen Walbrook is one of the finest of Christopher Wren’s churches and the first dome he designed. The birthplace of the Samaritans, our history and mission is at the heart of wellbeing in the city. Our unique altar, designed by Henry Moore, is a strong statement of togetherness at the heart of the City of London.

Our panel of academics, practitioners and those involved in supporting mental health and wellbeing will draw on examples of polymaths such as Christopher Wren and John Vanburgh (who is buried in the church) as well as current practice in the study and profession of architecture and the arts, to help us discern strategies for finding the balance between perfection in design and wellbeing.
