Style Wars: Boundaries, past and present

The history of architecture is full of boundaries created by the way it has been separated into different, distinct periods and movements. Georgian versus Victorian. Modernist versus Post-Modernist. So strong are these boundaries that we even refer to style wars when advocating for the virtues of a particular way of approaching architecture versus another.

Architects working within historic settings are often engrossed in discussions in and around the perceived strengths and weaknesses of past architecture and the boundaries between old and new. To shed more light on how such boundaries come to play in the current assessments in restoring and extending sensitive or protected buildings, conservation architects, Donald Insall Associates, are hosting a panel discussion: “Style Wars: Boundaries, past and present”.

Panelists include: Architect Amin Taha; Architect Charles Holland; Architectural Editor of Country Life John Goodall; and Director of Donald Insall Associates’ London office Tanvir Hasan.
The discussion is chaired by Architectural Historian Timothy Brittain-Catlin.

Please note that places are limited and early booking is recommended. We hope to see you there to join in what should be a lively debate.
