Publica will trace the historic and existing lines of the River Thames at nightfall and discuss the evolution of urban conditions and social life around it. This guided tour will highlight the history of civic ambition that has shaped infrastructure and public spaces along the river and encourage participants to imagine the future potential of these spaces. We will experience how light and darkness influence perceptions of the river and its adjacent public realm and explore how lighting has supported their history as evening and night time social spaces.
This event is one of two walks that Publica will be leading for the London Festival of Architecture. The other walk examines the recent upgrades to Bond Street’s public realm. For information, please check out the dedicated event listing: https://bit.ly/2vwEI3q
