Atop towering scaffolding, a group of men ricochet around a building site. Their routine may give a sense of purpose and security yet behind the perimeter fencing, all is not as it first appears.
Acclaimed Physical Theatre Company, Justice in Motion, and the Inspire parkour community have come together in this unique production revealing the plight of vulnerable and exploited workers found in industries throughout the world every day.
Told with breath-taking energy and fast-paced choreography on a vertiginous parkour ‘construction site’, ON EDGE explores what it means to be free, and what it means to be have imposed and irreversible boundaries put upon you.
Expect astonishing, adrenaline-fuelled, and gravity-defying moves of the international cast, telling a powerful and moving story that is woven with beauty and humour.
ON EDGE is presented as part of the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival’s ‘Dancing City’. GDIF, London’s leading festival of free outdoor theatre and performing arts, runs from 21 June – 6 July 2019, promising a programme of the highest quality international performances in Greenwich, East London and, for the first time, the City of London. A firm favourite in the GDIF programme, Dancing City showcases incredible performances from the UK and beyond in the parks, piazzas, waterfronts and shopping malls of Canary Wharf.
Dancing City is supported by Arts Council England, Canary Wharf Arts and Events and Without Walls.
