Join us for this 3-hour walking tour of East London and the City, as we explore the many migration stories embedded in this diverse area.
From the Jamaica Winehouse to the Great Synagogue, many communities have passed through East London and the City, and all have left their mark. This tour will showcase the ways that the livelihoods, cultures and practices of these diverse communities have interacted with one another over hundreds of years - leaving layer upon layer of intriguing histories. From Flemish weavers, to the silk-weaving Huguenots from France; the Jewish garment trade in Petticoat Lane, to the Bengali textile stores which now line the East London streets, the area has evolved with the many communities that have called it home.
This tour starts at Postman's Park in the City, finishing just off Brick Lane, in time for the Sunday market.
