MEET THE BOUNDARIES

Would we still talk to our neighbour if our garden wall suddenly vanished?
What happens when a boundary is no longer a division but the meeting point?

Following the LFA suggested theme, we propose an exploration on how boundaries can become meeting points. We will do that through understanding how people interact and react to limits.
We will look at villages on the fringe of two nations and their cultural positive impact. We will show how geographical or infrastructural barriers have become key gathering spaces. And we will analyse why a garden fence can be the start of a next-door friendship.
To do so, we will interpret these cases through drawings, plans, images and a vast variety of diverse material that reflects how society has transformed division into connection.

Meet The Boundaries is the final exhibition of a small piece of research undertaken by Calvino Studio.
Calvino Studio is a young Architectural practice formed by two sisters who shared their room for more than 20 years, and this has made them experts in defining boundaries, but more importantly, they mastered an infinity of ways of breaking and reshaping them
