Join us for a guided walking tour, discovering a number of temporary installations across Barking Town Centre that have been collaboratively designed and built by local community members as part of Her Barking.
You'll hear the full story of the what led to Her Barking, insights into the making of each installation and guidance for creating your own version of Her xxx in your own street, town or city.
Each installation is a live experiment - exploring the potential of the temporary reimagining of streets and spaces to improve perceptions of safety in locations that have been identified by local people as feeling unsafe. Currently 51% of residents do not feel safe in the town centre after dark (compared to a national average of 21%) the majority of these residents are women, older people and disabled people.
Her Barking - is a women-led movement, curated by Street Space, a community interest company working with people to reimagine their streets and spaces to make them more liveable, in Barking and Dagenham.
