Child Graddon Lewis has this year partnered up with Bessemer Grange Primary school’s Year 5 students via the RIBA National Schools Programme to explore the theme of boundaries, with links to science, design, geography and art.
During a series of workshops, our architects have worked with the children on developing a ‘Future City’ concept, creating designs which they would like to see on a future city or settlement on a different planet.
We’re looking at breaking the boundaries of design and not just on a new frontier, but in terms of how we engage with young people to take an interest in architecture and their surrounding environments.
Hosted at our practice in Spitalfields, this exhibition will showcase the work and models done by the Bessemer Year 5 students as well as offering an opportunity for visitors to create their own contributions as well. Using a range of materials (think egg boxes, pipe cleaners, loo roll etc. all supplied by CGL), we want to see what other young people think of how to design our living spaces and just how creative we all can be!
Taking place in our ground floor studio space and courtyard – families are welcome on the 21st June!
