CODY DOCK: BRIDGING BOUNDARIES, RIVER & COMMUNITY

An innovative rolling steel bridge re-opening Cody Dock to boats for the first time in 50 years is the centre piece of this exhibition all about community regeneration on the lower tidal River Lea, Newham.

Tom Randall-Page’s exciting twist on a moving bridge incorporating local industrial heritage elements is complimented by designs for an eco/community centre, boat building education centre, visitor centre, urban farm, outdoor garden gym, public/private landscaping and residences linking this 2.5 acre community greenspace site to 26 miles of river walks, ‘The Infinite Bench’ and more.

These are just some of the creative plans for developing Cody Dock and the surrounding riverbanks also on show from University of Portsmouth ‘Architecture & Landscape Lab’ 5th year students’ investigation of the relationship between the natural and built environment and Anglia Ruskin University 3rd year students working with a ‘Re-engineering the Urban Environment’ theme.

The exhibition culminates in The Big Summer Event at Cody Dock, Saturday 15th June midday – 5.30 pm, a free , zero carbon, community celebration of Cody Dock and the River Lea with shared lunch (bring home cooked food), bar, live music, urban bush craft, ecology and well-being activities. Family-friendly. All welcome. contact@codydock.org.uk 0207-473 0429
