On June 26 & 27, 2019, the shortlisted films for the International Film Competition of ArchFilmFest London will be screened at the Close-Up Film Centre in London. The 2019 edition of the Competition drew submissions from both established and emerging filmmakers working in the area of Architecture+Film, and the shortlist was selected from over 130 entries from more than 39 countries.
ArchFilmFest London is London's first film festival to focus on the relationship between architecture and film in their myriad forms, and it works to expand discussions around these issues and extend their impact throughout the film and architecture industries. Our International Film Competition provides a crucial platform for the discovery and promotion of new talent and gives visibility to those who are defining this field today. We call on renowned professionals in the area of architecture and filmmaking to judge the competition; in 2019 our jurists are film director Sophie Fiennes, architecture writer and critic Vicky Richardson and Phineas Harper (deputy director The Architecture Foundation) in collaboration with Matea Vlaskalic (The Architecture Foundation).
