Architectural Photo Walk: King’s Cross St Pancras

Explore one of London’s largest re-development zones on this architecture photo walk that focuses on the extensive regeneration of Kings Cross and St Pancras. Previously an industrial area defined by its rail landscape and dissected by the Regent’s Canal, the space has been re-imagined as a new urban quarter with many of its historic buildings conserved.

Participants will begin the day by looking at some of the important reference points within the RIBA Library Collections with books and articles that assess and review the development including specific locations such as Gasholder Park, Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square.

Next the group will travel to Kings Cross for a guided tour and use the 2019 London Festival of Architecture theme of ‘boundaries’ to inspire ways of photographing regeneration. Led by an experienced photographer, you will be challenged to translate your ideas into a series of lasting images before returning to RIBA for a discussion and a review of the images.
