ARCHITECTS : PORTRAITS BY IVAN JONES

ARCHITECTS is a photographic portrait series which seeks to reveal the often unacknowledged faces of contemporary architectural practice. Demonstrating the centrality of their position within what is often perceived as a male-dominated profession, this project acknowledges the greater diversity of roles present than might be superficially evident.

The portraits are a statement of equality, not difference. These architects are powerful in their own right, not in comparison to another's status. There are no special concessions to femininity or "femaleness"; these are architects and orchestrators of the built environment. They just happen to be women.
