To celebrate LFA’s 2019 theme, HOK London Studio and Archiboo will present the Architect Pitch - Crossing Boundaries.
Seven architects will pitch problem-solving and entrepreneurial ideas to a panel of industry experts and a live audience. The winner will receive a development and marketing support package, to allow them to refine and develop their ideas.
Archiboo founder Amanda Baillieu said: “There’s an abundance of practices that are generating their own projects. Some of them have a social purpose while others are more entrepreneurial but all of them show architects moving outside their traditional role”.
David Weatherhead Design Principal, HOK London Studio, stated “We have so many innovations in technology, yet the challenge remains as to how we embrace these and respond, as designers to generate creative solutions, yet still meet societal need. The definition of architecture will no doubt change as we seek to create efficiencies yet our designs remain functional and elegant”.
Whether designing schools befitting 21st Century learning, museums or the next tower, HOK’s philosophy is to influence how design will encourage people to engage and interact with the spaces and buildings. As architects and designers, HOK believes it is our responsibility to help meet societal need and to be efficient with the planet’s resources.
