3D scanners as cartographers of the future: an evening with ScanLAB Projects

As the electronic eyes for billions of mobile phones and driverless vehicles, 3D scanners are the cartographers of the future. Award winning practice ScanLAB Projects use cutting edge 3D scanning techniques as a form of machine vision to present new perspectives on the built environment. Redefining space as we know it, their projects force us to examine and contemplate the environments we live in, their past, present and future.

At this evening talk the practice will touch on a range of acclaimed projects, from Invisible Cities, post-lenticular landscapes and frozen relics to the cartography of driverless cars. They will explore how the digitisation of our world through scanning can dissolve both physical and conceptual boundaries, shedding light on the unseen environment and the way we inhabit it.
